Those bells are common and came with all sorts of designs on the top. You may want to add a vintage electric horn (handlebar mount). These were produced in the early 60~s in great numbers by Japanese companies and you can pick up an NOS one on Ebay for a very reasonable price. Plus they were styled to look good on a bike such as yours.

Thanks, Jim. I~m experimenting with a two part rubber mold of the headlight lens and a clear epoxy resin to try to recreate a lens. I have a 3 speed shimano setup from a 61? schwinn, and am trying to locate an original rear carrier. I ride it regularly, so I have swapped out the seat, as well as the pedals, and put them away. Also, this bike has a bell on it, chrome, has a painting of four leaf clovers on the cover, which simply unscrews from the top, and appears to be of the same vintage as the bike. I cleaned and oiled it and it works perfectly. Ever heard of one before? Thanks. Ed.

Ed, feel free to do whatever you want with that bike. It~s value will be less than $150. It~s missing the carrier, and the rear hub is a single speed coaster brake Komet Super (German manufacture). Usually to get a replacement lens for the tank you will have to buy a whole tank - they show up occasionally on Ebay. As to the age, it would be early 1960~s. If you want to repaint it red, then get a set of nice whitewall tires and clean up the rims. Don~t go wild and have everything rechromed, since that alone would be more than the value of the bike. You might want to get some period accessories such as a fender ornament, different seat with a crash rail, etc. A speedometer would be nice, but sometimes the tank interferes with the cable. Just do what you want to it and enjoy it!
