Posted by: GregG TITLE: BALLOON: Schwinn DXcrank
Just got my hands on what I believe is an old Schwinn DX. It~s in such poor shape, it~s not really worth restoring. No fenders, no tank, rims are rusted all the way through. I~m planning on just repainting it as a rider, but having an issue with the crank. It~s a dogleg crank, with a sweetheart skip tooth chainring, but the crank is stamped wald. Not sure how old it is, it has the Trains and Planes headbadge. Any idea if Schwinn ever used wald parts on their bikes? The bottom bracket was a rusted mess, and needs replacement, and i know that wald used different bearings and had a different thread pitch than schwinn, but the bottom bracket looks more like a schwinn one than a wald (bearings are 10-ball, not 9). I~m out of my league with identifying this stuff on bikes this old, can anyone out there give me a hand and let me know what these things came with?

Many thanks in advance.
