Well, I just spent 20 min. describing this bicycle and it failed to post. Must be human interface error...AKA: ME.

Anyway, I need help determining the age/background on these two bicycles. Japan-made?. Shimano 333 3-speed hub (Mens SN: 272920 / 5853-1). The mens bicycle SN: 8V0041. The stem and bars are one-piece and have bult in brake levers that extend to the stem. Front brake is cantelever, rear is a drum.

It looks like the rear stays/forks/dropouts are detachable and interchangeable between the the mens and womens bike. For shipping purposes???

ANyway, I know it is probably a low-end set thanks to what I~ve learned from lurking on this site for a year---hey, there is so much info ion this site that I didn~t need to piost a question until now. But I still want as much info as possible. I~ll post more detailed photos by the end of the week.

Okay, I found a pic of some stem/bar combos that look very similar to what is on the ebisu. This one is from a 30-something Hercules: http://oldroads.com/oldroads_files/393_16.jpg
