Posted by: ChadB TITLE: AGE / VALUE: Cleveland Welding Roadmaster Men~s bike
I just bought this old Cleveland Welding Roadmaster for myself..I think the chain guard and front sprocket are wrong...I added the springer forks, and will soon be adding a nice set of Schwinn Typhoon whitewalls. The frame # under the crank is J47422

Also, I~d appreciate any info about where to find the right chain guard and sprocket.

Forgot to mention, my tires are Schwinn Typhoon CORD tires, say 26 x 2.125 right on them.

I already have the right rims to fit the 26x2.125 Schwinn Typhoon tires, picked them up from the bike shop today. They aren~t S-2~s, just what the bike shop called H.D. 26x2.125 wheels; they work fine. I also got the correct Roadmaster chain guard, a new gooseneck and correct handlebar/grips, and a new chrome Cleveland welding skip tooth crank sprocket, 1 in. pitch chain, and a new repro Roadmaster fork tube badge. All for $100. I have the frame stripped down now, going to take it to a powder coater next week, then put it all back together.

You~ll need Schwinn S-2 rims to use Schwinn Typhoon tires. Schwinn rims/tires are are not the same sizes as other makes.

Well,I see now that not only are the crank, and chain guard wrong, but the bike also has a Schwinn headset, complete with AS marked bolts. That would be swell, IF this bike were a Schwinn. If anybody out there needs a Schwinn headset with the AS bolts, let me know. I~m heading to a bike shop tomorrow to try and get the right chain guard, a sprocket that at least LOOKS old, and hopefully a correct headset and handlebar grips.
