Posted by: Pudge TITLE: AGE / VALUE: Pre-War? Elgin Ladies Ballooner
Hi, I~m needing assistance in figuring out the model and the year this ladies Elgin was made. It has 26X2.125 tires on it and the brake arm says Elgin too. It has a tank, skirt guards, and a 9 hole rack on back. It has a skip-tooth sweetheart sprocket. It has what looks like grease fittings on the headtube and bottom bracket. The seat post is very narrow and is one of those L shaped kind. The serial number on the bottom bracket looks like C5 1490 and above that are the two digits of E6. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don~t have any clue about serial numbers, but there~s a bicycle of that description in the 1938/9 Fall/Winter Sears catalog. If you have a picture, I could compare.
