Posted by: jim TITLE: MIDDLEWEIGHT: cruiser
My neighbor has a bunch of old bicycles for sale and the one I have my eye on is an old schwinn cruiser with basic cantilever frame and headbadge. It has no fenders, or chainguard and is covered with housepaint so I~m having trouble identifying it, but I~m sure I can get the paint off. The seat is solid white and the grips are black. I haven~t seen a schwinn like that yet and I~ve looked at hundreds of pictures. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and is it worth 20 bucks?

If you can ride it it~s worth 20 bucks. Schwinn cantilevers run from late thirties to the present. Middleweights, 50s to 80s. If it has a serial number that indicates Chicago manufacture, see list on this site, you can at least date it. Don~t expect to ID a model from a frame. Models were distinguished by what was attached.
All the old ones had fenders and chainguards. None had a white saddle, I~m thinkin.
