I have a Schwinn DX Prewar bicycle the serail numbers predate the 1948 models the numbers are large and uniform not close together,the chaingard does not reach the rear frame legs,it has a AMC Flash badge with airplane and car.I wish I knew more about the exact age and the reason for the AMC insignia,someone told me that it was a dealer installed badge?! also I am trying to find a penpal that has pictures of the original seat ETC. Ron, there is a lot of info in these archives about Schwinn-built bikes. Basically, any retailer could put its own badge on, and there are quite a few badges you may find on essentially the same bike. You can also get good date info on http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday101/SchwinnCodes1.html
