Posted by: scott TITLE: AGE / VALUE: Bendix 2 speed hub
I have a hub that was on an Huffy middleweight bike from the sixties. the bike was very odd it had older Monark parts on it. someone told me that Huffy bought out Monark around that time and just put these "left over" parts on bikes. the frame was damaged and so I stripped it of all its parts and gave the frame away. this leaves me with the questions: what years were these 2 speed cable shift Bendix hubs available and what companies along with Monark used them as standard equipment? also are these hubs common? are they worth aanything? thanx in advance!!

are you sure we are talking about the same hub? i~m not talking about the automatic hub but the lever shift 2 speed I am guessing it must be post war but before the automatic hub. when was the automatic available? I have a 1960 with an automatic. thanx

The Bendix Multispeed was made from 1953 to 1961, and was used on lots of different bikes. I have found it on Columbias, Schwinns, Monarks, Evans, and others. If the hub is in good shape it could bring anywhere from $15 to $40 on eBay. The cable and lever are worth about the same.
