Posted by: William Tobias TITLE: BALLOON: Womens Murray Venus Bicycle
My wife and I went to an auction this past weekend and picked up a bicycle for her. It has goodyear white-wall tires and bendix pedal gear/brake. It also has dual head lights built in. Any idea when it was made. (Rides nice)

I just purchased a Murray "Overall" from a local thrift store. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being rusted and rimless, 10 being mint condition, I~d give it a 9. I~ve been able to find absolutely zero information on this bike. Its purple with orange handles and orange pinstripes. Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

Hello, has anyone heard of the Murray Comet VII I have one it~s all chrome with white wall tires it also has a small flat rack on the front if you lift up the hinge, it holds things maybe like newspaper or small bags nothing that you would want to get broken as it has a very strong grip. I~ve searched the internet but came up with nothing only on the Comet VI

My cousin has a meteor flite murray bike. Mostly red in color with some white. Handles have red and white tassles hanging from them. Lots of chrome. Headlight with the murray name between the lights and also on the sides near front of bike.Full size bike. Large enough for an adult to ride. We would very much like to know the age of this bike. The condition is perfect. Thank you.

Could you possibly help me. I bought a murray bicycle at a garage sale..simply because I thought it looked neat. I sent it to New Jersey with some friends who restore ACD cars and have placed 1st at Pebble Beach for the last 3yrs....just yesterday they informed me the bike is ALL chrome, except for the tank. I will be retrieving the bike because it is too expensive for them to rechrome everything...it was to be a "free" restoration. Could you give me any info on the bike...it is not in my possession now so I cannot send a photo. thanks

Gordon is right on target. I have a Murray Jet Fire and
a Sky Bolt. There were Strato Flites,Meteor Flites,Comets
etc.. I have tried to get a serial number chart for Murray
bikes but none seem to exist. I have even contacted Murray Inc and was informed this info is unavailable. We are left
to date these bikes via catalogues using modle names and
frame features etc. Wish I could offer more help.

Cycle on!

If the tire width is 1.75, it is probably from the late 1950~s or early 1960~s. When the space program got going, many of the bikes had names associated with space travel. Things like rocket, astro-flite, space liner, etc. and your Venus would fit right in.
