Posted by: Mike TITLE: MIDDLEWEIGHT: Schwinn Hornet Headset Work
Hi, working on an early 60s Schwinn Hornet. The headset is held not by a large nut, but by a metal ring with a rough, gripper-type surface. It won~t take a wrench because it~s round. Anyone have any experience with freeing such headsets up so they can be adjusted?

Along with WD-40, you can unscrew that ring with either a pipe wrench or a pair of channel-lock pliers and you~re good to go!

I~ve had good luck using a vice-grip plier. Use some WD-40 or something similar also.
