Does anyone know of an assembly breakdown picture on the internet of a 2-speed new departure model D hub.?

Thanks on that Gordon. Yes it is a conversion. I have had the bike since new, around 1945, and had the two speed installed a few years later by a bike shop. Do you know of any replacement parts for the planetary gear system. Thanks again.

If the hub shell is a model D, it was originally a coaster brake hub and was converted to a 2 speed. The two speeds that came from the factory had DD on the hub shell. Regardless, I am not aware of any diagrams for these hubs on the net. I could scan one of a New Departure Twin Streak for you, but I have no idea how similar they are internally as they were produced probably 20 years apart.
