Posted by: Scott TITLE: BALLOON: Seatpost Diameter help?
I have what I believe to be a 1972 Schwinn Typhoon frame that needs a seatpost. From eyeballing it, it looks a bit smaller than a 1 inch internal diameter seattube. Does anyone know for sure the size post I need or a site where I can find the correct size. I hate to buy something online based on a guestimate that it takes 7/8" post. Below is the serial number stamped on the rear wheel drop out. Thanks for any help or recommendations.

We have one born the same month (EB47472), I was just getting ready to refurbish. Actually I~m really a bit miffed, right now: in the two weeks since this bike showed up, someone has pilfered the seat (an original two-tone with the ~S~) and replaced it with a torn banana from an old Stingray, so it momentarilly has high-rise bars to match ;) I~ll see if I can borrow a caliper from my LBS...

Your Typhoon is actually 40 this month; the ~E~ stands for May!

Correction - Frame production date was January 1966. Still wondering what the seatpost size is. Thanks.
