Posted by: Kelly TITLE: AGE / VALUE: Reasonable or overpriced?
Hi,

There is an old cruiser balloon tire bike for sale that I am interested in buying as a gift for someone who wants to restore one, but the seller wants $100 for it even though there are many things cosmetically wrong with it. The seat is falling apart, one of the handlebar grips is broken in half, the front reflector is also broken in half and the body has various rust. There are no dents in the frame, though, and the bike works. It is a 1953 Western Flyer. Is $100 a reasonable price for me to pay? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

$100. is a reasonable price for any antique or classic bicycle if complete and rideable. Does it have a tank? Not sure what you mean buy a broken front reflector, I didnt know 1953 vintage bikes had front reflectors. Grips are not a big deal, I have new unused original WF grips for $10 a pair. http://oldbike.homestead.com/
Feel free to email me If I can help.
