Posted by: Randy B. TITLE: BALLOON: Persons Majestic Siren Question
So I got hold of a Persons Majestic Siren but was not in a position to test the item before purchase. This is my first experience with this type of accessory and I have the all the mounting hardware and as far as I can tell (from looking at online pictures of the model) the sound making mechanism is complete as well. It spins well (mounted against a tire or just in my hand) so the bearings are in good shape but it won~t make any siren noise! I have heard these before at Bike Swaps so I know what police siren-esque sound is supposed to come out. I even took it off the bike and ran it against my electric drill to get it up to really high speed....and no siren noise at all. Is this a common problem for these old sirens and is it fixable? Are there tell-tale signs I should look for to see if I am missing some integral piece? Any advice/experience that you want to pass along would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

This may sound dumb, but do you have it on the correct side of the bike so it is traveling in the correct rotation? I think if you are sitting on the bike it mounts on the right side of the front wheel.

You have to get them going really fast, and I think the wheel friction and wind adds to the sound. Either put it on a bike and find a hill, or you can get a little sound out of it by winding a string around the drive and pulling it.
