Posted by: Bob TITLE: WANTED: Info re: springer fork for a 1952 Firestone Super Cruiser bicycle
I have a 1952 Firestone Super Cruiser bicycle which I am currently restoring. The only item on the bike which I can not remove is the chrome cover which is located on top of the springer fork. The fork appears to have been assembled in two parts, however, I have not been able to separate/unscrew the two parts in order to remove the chrome cover which is badly pitted/dented. Any advice in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

I believe you need to take a very thin screw driver and gently pry the bottom fork race up and slide it up and off the steering tube. Then you should be able to remove the cover - I think it is just sitting over the top of the fork.
