Posted by: Scott TITLE: AGE / VALUE: 1890s? Massey "Silver Ribbon"
I recently acquired a Massey "Silver Ribbon". The headbadge wraps around the head tube. It has wooden rims. It has twin top bars(motorbike style). Has anyone heard of this make? I~m assuming it~s the Massey of Massey-Harris. It was built in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I don~t have pics yet but will get them up here asap. Thanks.

I too have pulled a Massey Silver Ribbon out of the attic, wooden rims and all. I enjoy restoring old things, including myself. Perhaps with a little chatter here, someone in the Canadian antique bike biz might respond. I highly supect it is more nostalgia value than anything else but hey, I have been wrong before. It would be nice to learn the true colour of these beasts. I believe mine is the green that they painted their Wallace tractors before they went red with the Massey Harris colours that I am familiar more with. Also to find out a dating pattern would be nice. I doubt these go back to the 1890~s but I bet mine was built in the 1920~s. When I get this cleaned up, I will take some pics and display them.
