Posted by: Liz McLeod TITLE: AGE / VALUE: Westfield/Columbia Seat Post Bolt
I have a 1946 Westfield Crescent ladies~ balloon-tire bike with a broken seatpost binder bolt -- the seatpost tube has no collar at the top, but rather bolts directly thru the tube, and the bolt has a flatted-out section to accomodate the seatpost -- an ordinary round bolt won~t work. I~m told these bikes interchange parts with the Columbia bikes of the same era -- so I~m wondering if anyone might have a spare lying around their junk box or know of a source for a repro? Thanx!

Hi Gordon,
It~s 1 5/8 inches long, with a 1/2 inch head -- same dimensions as a standard type round binder bolt. The flatted section begins about 1/4 in. from the base of the head and extends approximately 3/4 of an inch -- ending just as the threaded part begins.
