Posted by: Sandy TITLE: MIDDLEWEIGHT: Horn Help
I am working on a ~67 ladies Schwinn. I managed to get the tank off (see below - thank you) but the horn does not work, no click - no bypass - nothing. I have found replacement horns all over (ebay etc.) but they are 2 D cell and the one I have is a one D cell. Does anyone make or have the one cell? Could I somehow make the currently offered 2 cell work? squeeze it in or alter it? I am almost done with my restoration. Tomorrow I paint, need a new headlight and the horn and it~s done!

I doubt you could squeeze a 2 D cell unit into the tank. I think the battery holder would be too large. Perhaps if you were to buy a 2 D cell horn and then remove the battery holder, go to Radio Shack and get a battery holder for 2 C cells and wire that in, you might make it fit. The 2 cell horn should work with 2 D, C or AA batteries, they are all the same voltage, it will just last longer with the larger batteries. Good luck.

Thank you, I have already been there and the horn does not work. I sadly have to replace it. Please anyone who knows if I can use what is offered or where I can get a single cell?

Matk Smith has some tips on getting your horn to work on his website - http://www.bunchobikes.com/ Goto to the repair section and find the one on the horn.
