Posted by: Shay TITLE: MISC: Holes in Swiss fender
I just acquired a Swiss Condor, I think from around 1960. It is not a military bike, but a roadster/city bike. It has odd fenders, kind of flat, and a lot of clearance from the tire. The rear fender has a row of holes running along the edge of each side, located about 1/4 inch from the edge and spaced around an inch or two apart. The holes go all the way along the edge on both sides up to about four inches from each end of the fender, and they are small, kind of spoke-hole sized. Does anyone know what these holes were for? Thanks!

It~s for a string skirt guard that goes to a bracket on the rear hub axle nut. So the ladies do not get their skirts caught in the rear wheel.

Big thing back in the day, different patterns.
