I have schwinn from the 30s and I~m able to put a standard 26" mt bike tire on it, but I also have a schwinn from the 60s and he wheel is a little bigger. Does anyone know the date that Schwinn started making the wheels bigger?

About 1955 Schwinn came out with the S7 rim that takes only a tire made specifically for an S7. The width of the tire is marked 1 3/4. In spite of what your math instructor may have told you, 1 3/4 is not the same as 1.75. A tire marked 1.75 will not fit a Schwinn S7 rim.
