Posted by: bruce TITLE: AGE / VALUE: 1953 schwinn corvette
aloha--i recently acquired a schwinn corvette--all in original condition--it is green in color and according to its serial number, it was manufactured in dec of 1953--the only thing missing was the seat post clamp--on ebay there seem to be a couple of different types of seatpost clamps being made which might fit this bike--i know a very little about balloners and almost nothing about middleweights--would appreciate any kokua from anyone who is akamai about schwinn middleweights in general, and schwinn corvettes in particular--will throw in free surfing lessons should you ever make it to our sunny shores--mahalo no kokua--a huihou kakou

Uh, like what country are you from? What~s akamai, houihoo,
kokua, and surfing mean? Sounds like a bunch of kamikazi
hooey hooey to me! And didn~t, like, Chevrolet make the
Corvette, not Schwinn? If Schwinn made it, it would have
been a pedal car! Chevrolet made it and it had a 235 cu. in.
blue fart 6 cyl.engine in it in 1953. ...so THERE!

Bruce, I can send you a decent photo of the clamp on a ~63 Corvette. I am not how you say akamai but would guess that the bolt head on a ~53 would have the AS logo, whereas the ~63 just has the S. The nut on these babies didn~t change much in those years: it~s got a sort of flange that makes it effectively twice as wide, perhaps to keep the wrench out away from the frame a little?
email me if you like.
