Posted by: Audrey TITLE: MIDDLEWEIGHT: Help needed here to I.D this bike!! Help!
Ok, this bike has the old leather seat with 3 springs, and 28"x1 1/2 tires, 36 spokes, the sprocket has 5 heart shaped cutouts, with little 3/4" circles too....I could find no name..and it looks like where the emblem used to be it~s white, though now painted red, the front tire says Leicester Rubber co. Ltd. Granby Cord British Manufactured. The rear tire is United states No. 77 Giant chain Tread. There is also a red reflector on the back fender which has 19 circular raised nobs...and is about 2 1/2" across. Any suggestions on where to research,or what type-kind-etc. would be very much appreciated.... Thanks all!

Your tires are the kind that were going out of style in 1930. I looked at a lot of pictures on Nostalgic.net and didn~t find one that I thought met your description. Take a look at

or

or

and see if your sprocket is similar.
Take good pictures. If you can post them to the web, we~d appreciate seeing them.
Dave~s Vintage Bicycles is a good resource; the Wheelmen if your machine is older than 1918; the Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange; National Bicycle History Archive, if it~s still there...
