Posted by: bob TITLE: AGE / VALUE: Schwinn Hollywood 1953??
I~ve just acquired a beautiful white with pink pin stiping, 26 inch Schwinn Hollywood girls bike. It appears absolutely original. I~ve double-checked the serial number and it is: A56427. Is this a 1953 model? It does have the "S" on the seat. Red-line rear hub, stamped metal Schwinn plate on the front. Any ideas?

~53 seems right from the number list. I question the S saddle- my 56 Starlet has a saddle with no S , with a plate that reads Schwinn (not Schwinn approved), and my 60 Hollywood has a two tone Schwinn Approved with no S. I was also wondering about the red line hub; these bikes have a New Departure and a plain Bendix, respectively. We need an expert. ;)

The serial number is on the left rear frame where the rear axle is bolted. I just removed the axle to be sure there were no numbers under the washer and what I gave is correct
