hey, I got this weird thing, its orange and back and reads "KS BIKE MACHINE", its a small 2cycle gas engine with a friction drive setup for bicycles along with a small fuel tank and a seprate tank for the 2cycle oil, it works by something pulling it down onto the bike~s back tire, I have a bike I wanna mount it to but here~s the thing: I don~t have any mounts for it. making a mount for it is no problem but making the peices that pull it up and down are, would anyone possibly have any of this stuff or know where I could find it?
and does anyone know anything about this thing?

I have two k&s bike machines One had no spark Behind the pullcord assembly are the pointgs and condenser. I just cleaned the points. Ifr gas is coming out of tube on carburfator the float is stuck open. I would like to know about the spindle enlargement. I have both mounted to 20" rims and the bikes rip average 35....Horse power is 3.5 I am told. There are new kits for similar application with chain drive clutch system 50 or 80 cc. available Under $200

the back pack blower 300pb uses the same piston rings as the ks bike machine may the the same piston too

if anyone needs rings for the bike machine the part number is 10001105731 it is from echo u can have the bore replated by the race cart guys u can glue the reel on and wind and pull to start it so it can last u if u need help email me been useing them 17yrs so i know a lot of how to keep them running can tell u how to build up the drive roller to get more speed and rebuild the clutche and some good fast oil mixs and the right klutz nitro power additive and the correct safe amount to get good speed and response this is a very good engine better than the new one with higher compression of 8 to 1 no others its a shame its not made always use 1/8 once of cd2 lead sub for one gallon mix it give max protection

I recently bought a Bike Machine new in the box complete with all the parts and tools for $45. at a BoyScout garage sale. I mounted it to a foldable mountain bike I got as a premium from Marlboro cigarettes years ago.

The thing is a complete trip and a gas for this 59 year old guy to ride. I probably does 25 mph, starts from a dead stop without peddeling and will pull gradual hills
also witout assistance. I call it my Hardly Davis.

I have the owners manual and address of the company in Dallas, Tx. that made them. I don~t know it they are still in business. I did however get a comment from an admirer that they are real popular in Oregon. I can be reached at ivoryboat@gmail.com I need a gas tank for the model I have.

i have a K&S Bike Machine i lov the thing i would lov it even more if i could use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im 15 i bought mine a year ago at a thfit shop for $50 when i got the thing worked it worked finr until the clutch wheel broke acutally snap in the middle you see the guy that had it before me fabracted the wheel he made it out of a bottom of a lamp he said he couldnt find a 8mm left nut/wat might i say is very rare nut from my adventures of trying to find one/so he forced the nut on the thing that spins the wheel and then cut a hole in the lamp bottom then wieled it to the nut yaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!! it was a pain in the ass to get off anway i need another clutch wheel WHERE THE HELL CAN I GET PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!IF ANYONE KNOWS MY EMAIL IS gbad10940@yahoo.com i my bike machine has been out of action for 1 year now i guess ill fabricate my own part

rings from an old backpack blower work in the ks and maybe that piston too this ks can be replated some one might rebuild the coil its not made any more don.t buy the new ones they are low compression and rpm i ride a 10 speed i built up the roller so now it is faster 33mph cosmopena@yahoo.com

some of the parts that fit the ks machine are from the 400pb blower and the 300 blower these are backpack blowers by echo if you are lucky they might make a ignition module for it but i don/t think so as theres not much room there

that sounds as if (unless I~m misunderstanding) I~ll have to hold down the brake handle whenever I want to pedal which is not what I~m aiming for...
this is much easyer to build then alot of other stuff I~ve made (namely my trike....) its just this one issue :)

I~ve been considering making a couple electric powered things but I still like gas engines partly becuase they give me an excuse to make a tank for the frame :)

I was describing something like that. But it would be more "motorcycle-like" if it had a spring and a cable and you could use it like a clutch. Squeeze the handlebar lever and the roller lifts off from the wheel. Let go and the spring pulls the roller against the wheel.
Yes, it will take time to build. Everything does.
I would get an electric motor and not bother with anything old.

the thing is I want some kind of lever so I can pedal the bike around with the motor off the tire, then when I get tired or whatever, start the motor up, pull the lever and have it lock down onto the tire...almost like a giant C clamp kinda thing but that would obviously take a very long time compared to a lever...

I haven~t heard from you in a while. The lowrider board is getting less busy by the minute.
What I would do is build something like a "slant parallelogram". That is, something very similar to the cable shifted parts of a deraileur.
So when you release the clutch handle (you could use an old brake lever) the return springs, and weight of the motor combine to press the drive roller against the rear tire.

just take apiece of copper wire brieded kind same size and solder it to where it should go then put a plastic tube over it and put a strong flexable glue inside where solder is made and put a connecter for plug the best glue is called the welder from homax sold at lowes i did it and it works fine also you can make it faster there is a needle inside carb use the most upper notch it should give more speed sorry there is no parts except what i listed before

I have had one these Bike Machine for 4 years over halled the carb and pull starter cord. But no spark. Does any body know what type of motor it is? I think its a mitubushi. Like everyone else im looking for information and parts. I think mine needs a ign condensor or coil. Im a mechinic by trade and can fabricate.I saw in the archives something about blower what model #? Please help! Looking forward to helping others once I get it figured out.

you might try the pb300 back packblower since the rings of piston are the same or contact a snapper dealer they carried that engine many years ago it was used for a backpack blower before the days of diophram carbs the only other thing is find someone that can rebuild the old one maybe check the vintage car guys they might have contacts hope it helps you it has not been made since 1980

some other oils that worked great in the bike machine are moterex motocross 1and3/4 once per gal also nosmoke oil the synthetic one at 3 and 1/2 per gal also opti2 these for hot weather ajust if you must and powerplus at 3and 1/2 to 3/4 also i mostly add only 1 once of mek and nitro power it give good power and is safer in case the gas has lots of alchol i use only high test gas and i have overlaped with these oils like changing over on trips with no problems but of course i don/t mix oils

Oh noooo!!!!!

The sparkplug wire got too close to the engine while it was running along just fine and melted. I tried to fix the wire and tape it but I get no fire. Took it apart and the mag the sparkplug wire it is connected to is all one piece. Can~t just replace the wire. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to repalace the sparkplug wire or where to find a complete mag/sparkeplug wire unit?????

Who has a line on parts for the engines???

I have a complete original owners manual. Unfortunately I am too dumb to email the manual but will send one out snail mail if you pay for postage and and copying. It has a complete parts list....etc.

about the starter on the ks if the center post is broken it might not pay to replace the coil spring as it won/t work well it was cast with the body and it is pot metal if it works at all it will be hit or miss u might try to replace it with abrass pipe or steel one from hobby or hardware and thread it on the body if it is the same as the original it should work just hope u can find one from another engine and buy it so check the post first or at least be able to put the pipe in before u order the springs or pay a shop to do it maybe a hobby shop it takes good skill to do it

the pb backpack blower is an old echo make if u can not get the parts u can take the inside reel out and glue it to the plate with marine tex its slow and crude but works u have to rewinde by hand then also if anyone uses both nitro propane and mek the mix must be richer 3/and one half in cold and 3and 3/4 in hot and check always for high heat more so if racing or going up a lot of steep hills it then might need 4 onces of the power plus oil keep looking winter is best time in shops as they are not that busy with landscapers hope this helps u also that spring is very hard to put in if u are not that good yet have the shop do it cause if it gets unraveled it is then very hard to put i know been there

to those useing friction drives if you want the tires to last longer get the epoxy from locktight the professional and mix in some graphite powder in your epoxy mix it will still give good traction but it cause less wear even more so if you have increased the rooler size a lot i usealy start out with spiral flore nails with marine tex epoxy then add bondo then the graphite mix last as it cheaper than useing only marine tex which is very costly but is the only thing strong enough for the base you can always put more graphite mix on as needed from wear this way you save gas and tires last as well
